Ovamboland Tourist Attraction

Ovamboland is the former homeland of the Ovambo people and it lies north of the Etosha Pan. Ovambo land is divided into four regions namely: Omusati, Ohangwena, Oshana and Oshikoto. These regions are known as the "Four O" of Namibia. This area is the most populated area in Namibia.

The ovambo people are farmers and grow mainly millet, sorghum, beans, pumpkins and watermelons while keeping cattle and goats.

In the sixties and seventies, Ovamboland became the scene of severe fighting between SWAPO and the South African army. Since independence, more and more businesses mushroomed in Ovamboland. Pre-independence, tourists totally ignored the area but now, tourism is beginning to emerge.
