Most business centres and offices are closed during the Botswana public holidays. Some holidays are of national significance while others are international holidays such as Christmas Day. Public Holidays are:

January 1 – New Years Day
New Year's Day is the first day of the New Year on the modern Gregorian calendar.

April 10 – Good Friday
Good Friday, also called Holy Friday, Black Friday, or Great Friday, is a holiday observed primarily by adherents to Christianity commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary.

April 13 – Easter Monday
Easter Monday is the day after Easter Sunday and is celebrated as a holiday in some largely Christian cultures.

May 1 – Labour Day
Labour Day or Labor Day is an annual holiday celebrated all over the world that resulted from the labour union movement, to celebrate the economic and social achievements of workers.

May 25 – Ascension Day
The Ascension implies Jesus' humanity being taken into heaven. Ascension Day, celebrated 40 days after Easter, is one of chief feasts of the Christian year.

July 1 – Sir Seretse Khama Day
Sir Seretse Khama Day celebrates the life of Botswana's last prime minister during the colonial era and the independent nation's first president. It is held on his birthday, July 1.

July 21 – President’s Day and July 22 – Public Holiday
Presidents' Day is a two-day holiday in Botswana in July. It appears to be the third Monday and Tuesday of the month.

September 30 – Botswana Day
The 30 September 1966 is the day that Botswana gained her independence.

December 25 – Christmas Day
In many parts of the world, Christmas is the day when people celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem two thousand years ago.
December 26 – Boxing Day
Some people claim that Boxing Day comes from the need to rid the house of boxes after Christmas.
