Namibia Damara Dik Dik

Namibia Damara Dik Dik could be confused with a steenbok or duiker but its very small size, elongated proboscis –like snout and grey-brown back are characteristic. The dik-dik stays on flat ground and avoids ascending outcrops and mountain ridges.

Although regularly seen alone they mate for long periods – probably for life and are territorial. The pair will stay together even though they may change territories when necessary. Intruders of either sex are not tolerated and will be chased by the male by series of mock charges.
