Namibia Flag

The Namibia flags symbolises the rich history of the country and are the pride the the nation.

It was officially adopted on March 21, 1990. The blue colour of the flag signifies the Namibia blue skies and the ocean.

Red symbolise the blood of the Namibia fallen heroes and herroines, white is the colour of peace while green represent the vegetation and the agricultural sector of Namibia. The sun is symbolic of energy and life.

The President's flag was designed by the State Herald of South Africa, Mr Fred Brownell, a member of the Sub-committee investigating new national symbols for Namibia in 1990. Its colours are blue, gold and green. The gold is charged with the Coat of Arms.

It represents the supreme authority of the head of state and chief executive and is flown on the president's car. The use of the President's Flag is restricted to Namibia. When the President travels to other countries on official duties, only the National Flag is used. This flag has so far been used by the founding father, H.E. Dr. Sam Nujoma and the current president, H.E. President Hifikepunye Pohamba.

Namibia Police Flag

On the 21st March 1990 when the country became independent, the Police force was renamed from South West African Police force to Namibian Police Force. the new Police Force came into being by an Act of Parliament (Act 19 of 1990).

This has a similar design to the national flag. A dark blue field with a diagonal red stripe (with thin white stripes around the red colour)from top right to bottom left. The badge of the Namibian Police is placed on the upper blue part of the flag.
