Namibia Giraffe
Namibia Giraffe are quite unlike other mammals in their social structures as they do not have a recognised leader. Herds are not static and giraffe constantly move between herds. Nurseries of youngsters are often seen when the young are left to their own devices while the adults move away to feed. The mother only returns twice a day to suckle.
With their height and good eyesight giraffe can see lion up to 2 km away in open country. Their presence in an area is often reflected by the unusual appearance of vegetation – tall trees have a flat bottomed canopy, medium trees an hour grass shape and small trees are flat on top from the nibbled off shoots preventing the bush from growing taller.
