Namibia Lion

The Namibia Lion, unlike other cats are social animals which often live in prides of up to thirty individuals. However they do survive well on their own. The prides generally consist of related females with their attendant males.

Lions are unbelievably lazy creatures that spend up to twenty hours a day just lying around or sleeping. The other four or five hours they spend hunting or marking the borders of their territories.

Unlike wild dogs, young lions receive no preferential treatment at meal times the strongest eat first and the weak and young must fight to get food. On occasion the males will drive off all older lions to allow the cubs to eat. Best viewing areas are all three camps in Etosha, Khaudom.
