Namibia Sitatunga
The Namibia Sitatunga is related to bushbuck and kudu with whom they share spirally twisted horns and body stripes but they have a hunched appearance, dark shaggy coat and narrow face.
Most of the time they live in water and have evolved splayed hooves to allow them to move easily in mud. When hunted they move into deep water, almost submerging themselves, leaving only their nostrils protruding and often feed while immersed in water.
An oily skin secretion protects the animal from the constant contact with water. Best viewing spots for these animals are the island fringes and shallow waters in the permanent swamps on the Kwando/Linyanti Rivers.
