Pendukeni Iivula-Iithana
Honourabe Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana was born on 11 October 1952 at Uukwandongo in Omusati Region. She is the first female Atorney General of Namibia. She left Namibia in 1974 and became one of its first women fighters in the People’s Liberation Army of Namibia (Plan).
Iivula-Ithana was the Secretary of the Swapo Women’sCouncil from 1980 to 1991. She held posts of Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Wildlife, Conservation and Tourism, Minister of Youth and Sport, and the post of the Minister of Lands, Resettlement and Rehabilitation.
In the 1990s she studied part-time at the University of Namibia while also holding the Lands portfolio and was appointed the Attorney General in 2001.
Iivula-Ithana’s educational qualification includes a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB) (1999) and a B Juris degree (1998) from Unam . Iithana also has a Diploma in Public Administration and Management frm the UN Institute of Namibia, Zambia (1979).
