The Famous Windhoek Christuskirche

The Christuskirche was built in 1907 – 1910. It features a blend of Romanic and art nouveau (Jugenstil) details in its outward appearance while its roof portion brings the steep spires of Gothic cathedrals to mind. The Christuskirche remind one the determination of early settlers to find themselves a new home while maintain cultural and religious links with their mother country, Germany. Similar churches can be found in Swakopmund and Luderitz.
