The Kalahari Desert
The area of the Kalahari falls within the southern Kalahari, found on deep Kalahari sands with rolling dunes and consists of open shrub with se,I deciduous camelthorn (Acacia erioloba), grey camelthorn (Acacia haematoxylon) and white stemmed sheperd’s tree (Boscia albitrunca) along intermitted fossil watercourses and interdune valleys.
The water course of the Auob River is predominantly in concrete, as are fossil river courses and the pans, some of which irregularly hold water. A highly variable rainfall of between 250 and 450 millimetres accords with a variable bird population.
