Tuahepa Emma

Emma Tuahepa was born on 11 December 1974. In 1996 she was one of the first Namibians to disclose that she was HIV positive and has since been a high profile campaigner raising awareness about HIV-AIDS throughout Namibia. She has also campaigned for greater access to anti-retroviral drugs in Namibia. Her campaign paid off as antiviral drugs are now available to every Namibian in the public health institutions.
Emma Tuahepa was a founding member of Lironga Eparu (which means lean to survive) when it was founded in 2001 and is the National Coordinator of the Organisation.
Tuahepa has a Teaching Diploma from the Windhoek College of Education as was a teacher for a short period at Okuryangava Primary School.
