Veronica de Klerk

Veronica de Klerk was born on 26 November 1947. She heads Namibia’s mot prominent women’s organisation – Women’s Action for Development (WAD). Under De Klerk’s leadership, Wad has initiated a range of self help projects throughout the country that concentrate on training and income generation for the poor.

WAD has also helped to set up Women’ Voice groups across Namibia, with the aim of promoting lobbying skills and assertiveness among their members.

After attending the Fourth World Conference for Women in Beijing in 1995, Mrs. Veronica de Klerk decided to dedicate herself to the empowerment of the rural poor.
